After V-J Day, the Chinese communists, under the instigation of Soviet Russia, forcibly occupied certain areas in the Northeastern provinces and staged a revolt against the Cenrral Government. Troops were sent to suppress them and Field Post offices were established in places where the troops operated. The Field Post stamps overprinted for special use in the Northeastern are as are of two denominations. One is Dr. Sun's portrait 50 definitive stamps of Peiping Central Engraving & Printing Works 1st Print restricted for use in the Northeastern Provinces. Such stamps bear the black overprint〝軍郵〞(Field Post) in No.4 Sung characters above the wording 〝暫作44圓〞(temporarily used as $44) in No.5 Sung characters arranged in two lines. The other denomination is the Field Post stamps of the Central Trust Print. The overprint made by the of the Central Engraving & Printing Works, Peiping consists of five characters 〝限東北貼用〞(restricted for use in Northeastern Provinces) in a horizontal line across the middle of the stamps partly in No.5 Sung style and partly in new No.5 Sung style in black.
