The surcharge was made in the three following ways by the Kuo Wen Printing Press, Kweilin (桂林國文印刷廠).
(1) Dr.Sun Yat-sen Issue of various Dah Tung Prints . The stamps were surcharged in cent denominations with No. 4 Sung characters reading〝桂區〞( Kuei Chu), meaning Kwangsi District, in a vertical line in the upper right corner in black in addition to the characters〝銀圓×分〞(silver dollar × cents) in haorizontal line at the bottom. The surcharged value was expressed in Arabic figures with the exception of half-cent stamps.
(2) Dr.Sun Yat-sen Issue of Central Prints in high value. Such stamps were surcharged as 5¢in silver dollar currency with No.4 Sung characters reading〝桂區銀元伍分〞(Kwangsi District silver dollar 5¢) overprinted in three vertical lines in red ink.
( 3) Dr.Sun Yat-sen Issue of 2nd and 3rd Shanghi Dah Tung Prints in value above 10¢.
