Continuing the issue of Famous Chinese Portrait Stamps, another two stamps were issued in 1966. 2.50 Yueh Fei was a famous anti-aggression general of the Sung dynasty. On numerous occasions he showed valor and generalship in defeating the northern Chin invaders. Had he not been recalled to the capital and killed by the treacherous premier, Chin Kuei, the invaders would have been driven out of the occupied territories. The design was based on painting in the collection of the National Palace Museum. 3.50 Wen Tien-hsiang was a loyal statesman of the Southern Sung dynasty. When he failed in resisting the Mongolian aggression, he was taken prisoner and then killed by the invaders because refusing to surrender.
