This set of stamps with portraits of four famous Chinese poets as their respective designs was issued on June 12, 1967 (the fifth day of the fifth month by the lunar calendar), Poets Day.Designs were based on paintings, that measures 34.6×42.6 cm.each, in the collection of the Palace Museum.Detailed particulars are given below: 1.00 Chu Yuan (circa 343-277 B.C.) who, after having been exiled by the king of the state of Ch'u, is admired for his well-known poem, the Li Sao, 〝Falling in Trouble,〞 which expressed his sorrow for corruption in the government as well as his integrity and loyalty to his king. 2.00 Li Po (699-762 A.D.) was one of the greatest poets of the Tang dynasty and usually called the genius of poetry. His verses have a most charming style. 2.50 Tu Fu (712-770 A.D.) was another great poet of the Tang dynasty. He is known as the sage of poetry, and noted for his songs and epics. 3.00 Po Chu-i (772-846 A.D.) was also a great poet of the Tang dynasty. He wrote long narrative poems, satires and lyrics. His poems are full of humor and easy to understand.
