To promote the Chinese Cultural Renaissance Movement, a set of 〝Ancient Chinese Bronzes Postage Stamps〞 with four ancient bronzes selected from the collection of National Palace Museum was released. The bronzes depicted on the stamp design are briefly described as follows: 2.00 Fang-ting, 〝Tso-tse〞 Rectangular Cauldron Western Chou dynasty (1122-722 B.C.) Inscription of 41 characters. Rectangular body with two handles, flat base and four columnar feet. Decorated with two-tail dragon, tao-tieh, nipple and bow-string design. 5.00 Ting, Cauldron with Two Phoenix Handles Warring States period (481-221 B.C.)Rounded body with three hoof-shaped feet and two phoenix handles. Four phoenixes on the cover. Decorated with double ring, curves and tao-tieh design. 8.00 Pen hu,〝Lai-pei〞 Flat Jar Warring States period (481-221 B.C.) Inscription of 2 characters. Flat body with rectangular base. Two animal-head ring handles. Decorated with coiled serpentine dragon design and triangle pattern. 10.00 Chiao,〝Fu-ping〞 Wine Vessel Shang dynasty (1766-1122 B.C.) Inscription of 3 characters on both cover and vessel. Rounded body, flat base, spout and curl-up extension rim of back. Three tapering feet. The cover in animal shape. Decorated with tao-tieh, thunder, and cicada pattern.
