There are toxic plants throughout the botanical world, and most of them are found in mountain wilderness, campuses, parks, gardens and along roadsides. In order to raise ROC citizens’ understanding and cautiousness about poisonous plants, and to prevent people from touching or eating these toxic plants, the Directorate General of Posts is releasing a set of four stamps on toxic plant species. Each stamp will feature one of the following four species: Lycoris radiata (Red spider lily), Cerbera manghas (Odollam erberus-tree), Abrus precatorius (Rosary pea), and Nerium indicum (Oleander). Cheng Yuan-chun, the head of the Department of Botany at the Taiwan Museum , has been commissioned to handle the planning for this set of stamps.
