The Government has designated January 1, 2001 as the date on which direct trade, transportation and communications links will commence between Kinmen and Xiamen, as well as Matsu and Foochow, which have been referred to as the "Three Small Links." This historic event will be a small step for the people of Kinmen and Matsu, but a big step in improving relations between the two sides of Taiwan Strait. To mark this historic occasion, the Directorate is issuing a set of two 'Establishing the "Three Small Links" to Mainland China Commemorative Issue' featuring the landmarks of Kinmen, Xiamen, Matsu and Foochow as well as sailing boats.
(1)First Day Cover in small size to be sold at NT$2 apiece.
(2)Folder especially prepared for the stamps to be sold at NT$5 apiece.
(3)Folder with crystal mount for better protection of the stamps to be sold at NT$5 apiece.
(4)Loose-leaf stamp album page with plastic cover to be sold at NT$8 apiece .
(5)Pre-cancelled First Day Cover affixed with a low-valued stamp to be sold at NT$11 apiece.
(6) Pre-cancelled First Day Cover affixed with a complete set of stamps to be s old at NT$36 apiece.
Cachet:
A special cachet will be used at Northern, Central and Southern Directorates of Postal Regions, super class post offices as well as Kinmen and Matsu post offices on January 1,2001(from 8:00 AM to 12:00 AM.) All other level post offices may offer suppementary cancellation service within ten days from the next day.
